Favourite Mozzarella Stuffed Soft Breadsticks (Illustration)

A great grab-and-munch snack for sports games, card game night, or really any time you get together with friends.

Mozzarella Stuffed Soft Breadsticks

Ingredients
  • 3¼ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp yeast
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • ¼ cup warm milk
  • 3 tbsp blend of canola and vegetable oils
  • 2 tbsp corn syrup
  • 3½ cups Black Diamond Shredded Mozza Cheddar
  • ¼ cup egg whites, well shaken
  • 1½ tsp dried oregano leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
Preparation
    null
    1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
    2. Line a 15x11” rimmed baking sheet with enough parchment paper to hang over the sides.
    3. Pulse the flour, yeast, and salt in a food processor fitted with a metal blade until combined. In another bowl, mix milk, water, oil, and corn syrup. With the processor motor running, slowly add this to the flour mixture until a dough ball forms. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 3 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
    4. Divide dough into 2 equal portions and roll one half out to a size that will fit a baking sheet. Arrange dough on baking sheet, stretching as needed to meet edges. Sprinkle with 3 cups of Black Diamond Shredded Mozza Cheddar cheese, leaving a 1” border. Roll out the second portion of dough slightly larger than the first. Place over the cheese and fold the edges under the bottom layer of dough; pinch to seal. Score the dough with a sharp knife to create 20 breadsticks (do not separate). Cover with a kitchen towel and let it sit for 20 minutes so it can rise.
    5. Meanwhile, whisk egg whites with oregano and garlic; brush over entire dough surface. Sprinkle evenly with remaining cheese. Bake for 15-17 minutes or until puffed and golden. Cut along the seams to easily break away the breadsticks; serve warm.
